THE FIRST KISS

 

 

This is unexpected.  The purposeful clasping of hands, the sly grin fading into a shape of complacence, eyes large.  Remus has never seen his friend look like this.   He’s not even sure what this look means.  It makes him uneasy, the not knowing.  The one predictable thing about Sirius Black is that he is unpredictable, but Remus has never fully gotten used to it. 

 

Sitting across from each other on Remus’s bed, Sirius holds the other boy’s hands tightly.  Remus waits for him to let go.  He doesn’t.  Instead he pulls him closer.  Their faces are close now and Remus is nervous, but he doesn’t say anything because it is somehow right.  In fact, it is just what he wants.
